To sign up to be a driver for DeliveryApp you will need the following:

  • Full, valid UK driving license (checked via your DVLA check code)
  • A smartphone and UK mobile phone number
  • A roadworthy vehicle with a valid MOT for your vehicle type
  • Utility bill or bank statement dated within the last three months
  • Proof of ‘Hire and Reward’ insurance (available to purchase in-app via Zego)
  • Proof of ‘Right to Work’ in the UK
  • ‘Goods in Transit’ insurance certificate (mandatory for vans, optional for cars)

While completing the sign-up process, you will need to create and connect your Stripe account before you can take your first job; this is the automated payment system we use at DeliveryApp to pay our drivers. This is free to set up, and once you have been paid, you can log into your Stripe account and withdraw the money into your personal account. To open a Stripe account, you will need a bank account; this is where all payments will be made to from Stripe.

To be a delivery app driver, you will need two types of insurance:

  1. ‘Hire and Reward’ insurance: This is a legal requirement for drivers who carry other people’s items in return for payment. This insurance is available to purchase via Zego in our mobile app. To connect your Zego Account within the app, follow these steps: Open DeliveryApp > Account > My Zego Account > Proceed (add in the relevant details).
  2. ‘Goods in Transit’ insurance: This covers items from theft, loss or damage while they are being transported by vehicle from one place to another. This type of insurance is available from many insurance providers from low monthly costs. All of our van drivers must have a minimum ‘Goods in Transit’ cover of £10,000. Car drivers should have a minimum cover of £5,000, however, where car drivers do not have this, DeliveryApp will cover the cost of any genuine claim up to £250.

Please make sure you have the most up-to-date version of the app. You can check this by viewing the app settings on your phone, or update your phone settings to background app refresh, to make sure your phone automatically downloads the latest version once it is available.

When logging in, please make sure you have input the correct email and password. If you cannot remember your password, reset it and a link to reset your password will be emailed to you. Check your junk email for this email if you do not immediately see it in your inbox.

If you have tried all of the above and are still having problems, then please send us an email to driverteam@deliveryapp.com with the following information:

  • Which phone you have and model e.g., iPhone X
  • If you have been able to log in or not
  • The app version (located at the bottom of the ‘Account’ section)

‘Goods in Transit’ insurance is insurance for the items you are carrying. If they were to be stolen or damaged, ‘Goods in Transit’ insurance would cover this. ‘Hire and Reward’ only covers the car and not the items inside it.

All of our van drivers must have a minimum ‘Goods in Transit’ cover of £10,000. Car drivers should have a minimum cover of £5,000, however where car drivers do not have this, DeliveryApp will cover the cost of any genuine claim up to £250.
